I have been going here for more than thirty years and Phil never disappoints with the quality of his haircuts. Whether busy or not He always has time to talk during his work and is extremely amiable. I can highly recommend his parlour and at a very reasonable price.

I’ve been a regular of the shop for over 20 years.
I’ve yet to receive any other than top notch service where folk are treated more like friends than customers!
Competitively priced, convenient and always a pleasure to visit.
Oh, and a damn fine haircut cut!
(Even if I don’t have quite as much hair as when I first came to the shop 20 years ago!
Give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Traditional barber who provides an excellent hairdressing service in the city centre. Always takes care to cut your hair as requested. Plenty of street parking available or a range of car parks. The shop is surrounded by a range of good shops and is within easy walking distance of three shopping centres, the station and bus interchange. Competitive prices draws many regulars. Open six days per week. Worth a visit.

I've been going here for almost thirty years and have always had exceptional service and quality hair cuts. Phil and George are very friendly, welcoming and polite people who have always had time for each one of their customers. It's a small shop that is always busy, a sure way to show how popular the place is. If you want a good quality hair cut look no further.

Visited today for my holiday haircut by Phil - as ever I am very pleased with the result. I have been a customer for a number of years and have to say that I have always been completely satisfied with the results.This is a traditional barber's shop, Phil is a courteous, cheerful barber and it is always a pleasure to visit.
I would recommend him to anyone wanting a decent haircut!

I have been going to Phil for a few years, after initial going for convenience as it was close to my previous employment. I now happily travel a distance for my haircut as I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else. Always courteous and does a great job. His way with his elderly customers is great to see and something that is sadly missing from today’s society. A true gentleman.

I have been a customer of Phil's for over 15 years and to me there is no other barber like him. He is always chatty,courteous and we do have a bit of cheeky banter together, which puts you in a relaxed mood. I have yet to have a bad hair cut there (let's hope I am not tempting fate with that comment!)

Keep up the good work Phil....Hull needs you!

I visit Phil every time I'm in Hull and have never had any issues.
He is an old school barber, no fuss, just the haircut you ask for.
Phil knows all his regulars by name and if you fancy a chat, Phil is very entertaining. And equally important Phil knows his customers who just want a good haircut with no fuss or chat.

Gotta say Phil is a proper old school barber, he has plenty of customers who he knows by name and always recalls the last conversation you've had on the previous visit.
He is very attentive to detail and doesn't rush.
All in all a great experience in a quaint corner of the City of Culture.

I have been going to Phils traditional Barber's for over 10 years now. You always get a great welcome and professional traditional cut.
One of the main reasons I drive in to the centre for my 3 weekly cut is that Phil has my blueprint cut, and I walk out with exactly what I want.
The conversation is unique to you and amazingly he remembers details of conversations you have had previously.
If you want a place to go with a geat welcome, great hair cut and a relaxed atmosphere, then go to Phils.

Traditional Barbers shop ... been having my haircut at Phil's for over 10 years. Always a warm welcome. Phil was traditionally training as a barber and his scissor skills still amaze me today. Just turn up and take your turn, but as Phil is such a whiz in the barbers chair, you won't be waiting long. Great service and skills at a realistic price. Here's to another 10 years of great haircuts.

I have been going to this barbers for quite a few years, it must be one of the only, if not the only proper men's barbers in the city. George and Phil are absolute gents, they are both proper apprenticed trained and have those skills to prove it, not may I add, like a lot of them, who after six months training, think there world class. It is a lovely establishment with a lovely atmosphere and you are looked after in the proper way. The gentlemen who made this remark for me, doesn't know what he's talking about and maybe should have waited for his barber to be available, if he's that good. I would give this place ten out of ten know problem. The gentlemen concerned is a complete one off.

Iv'e been using this traditional Barbers for 43 years now!

George who was the original proprietor trained many young men through a proper apprenticeship scheme of which Philip is shining example!

He is very skilled at his trade and can also converse with his customers on any amount of subjects. I can't believe the review this person has posted and would urge anyone to not take any notice!

I have been using this barbers for a number of years now and have always had a friendly service, daily newspapers while you wait to read and a 1st class haircut every single time, so much so that I don't even need to ask how I want my hair cutting because Phil knows his customers. I lesrnt very quickly how popular this barbers is because he opens at 7.30am and if you aren't there on time you will often find people already waiting outside! I arrived one morning at 7.30 and there were already 6 people waiting! Now if that doesn't tell you that this is a sign of an experienced barber that knows how to cut hair and is a proper gent at a price of £8.80 for a cut then good luck to you if you want to pay £30 for an upmarket salon for a haircut. This barbers is 5* for me all day long.

I have been going to Phil and George's barbers since I actually had some hair to cut - which is a long time ago! I probably pass a dozen barbers to get there which says it all really - good people and very professional - a proper scissors job not just a head shave.

A bit of a hidden gem! A real apprenticed, time served barber and a genuinely good bloke too. Very reasonable prices compared to any stylist of similar ability. Barber uses proper comb and scissors style cut, perfect for vintage look and modern styles. Does beards too and again VERY reasonably priced.

I have frequented this men`s barbers for the past 8 years and throughout this period I have always found the staff "Phil and George" to be what is expected of a men`s barber.
Friendly, will engage on any issue whether it be personal, or putting the world to rights or the sporting achievements of the day!
But above all, their professional address of cutting hair, trimming beards etc, is second to none!
I have never left their salon disappointed!

A fantastic and friendly place to have your hair cut. Phil is a great guy and extremely professional. The one poor review on here is either a "set up" or a case of mistaken identity. Always made to feel welcome and if busy you can read the free daily papers provided. Been going for many years now and will continue to do so. WARNING - Bringing Phil a coffee will NOT get you in the chair quicker.....so don't bother taking him one!!! ?? Well done Phil - keep up the good work!!

This is MY kinda barber. A proper mans's traditional hair cut is hard to find. Almost like an endangered trade. Over several years, I find the service 100%!

A friendly traditional barbers shop, no appointment needed just have a read of the paper while you wait. I have used this barbers for many years now and always been very satisfied with my haircut. The current proprietor trained under the former one and continues to deliver a very professional service that really values the customer.

I have been going to this barber's on and off for years when it was George's business and Phil his apprentice It is a typical old fashioned traditional barber's shop and I have never had a bad haircut in the many years that I have been going and the changes in hairstyle I have had No appointment necessary just call in even before work if you like

Best Barbers in the city by far!!
It's traditional look is great and gives you a welcoming feeling at every visit.
As for the service it is next to none. Extremely polite and helpful and do exactly what you ask for ( and i'm a picky sod lol )

Highly recommend this barbers to anyone and everyone ( male only of course haha )

I am the barber who works in this Barbers shop.
The review mentioned before this one would never come out of this shop. Not even when I was an apprentice would this happen.
Why he would write such a review is beyond me. Perhaps he was in another shop and mistakenly thought it was mine? Sorry, ridges are not my thing.
I'm sorry this man has had such a haircut. I put my pride in my work, you can't please everyone-that is a given, but you'll never leave my place with a bad haircut , that is for sure.
Try me.

My usual barber was on holiday so i had seen this shop a few times and thought i would give it a try. Small shop with air conditioner unit on floor area. Seemed the traditional male barbers shop with all the gear associated with male barbering. Don't let this facade fool you though! Asked for a number one sides and back with a finger depth on top blended in. Got a line all the way around my head that was at best a ridge. The top was cut OK at first but then out came the thinning scissors and my god did i need to run right there and then. Worst hair cut ever. Totally not what i asked for and when i complained i was told not to come back to the shop. As if i would ggrrrrrr!!!!!!! I could see my scalp through the top of my hair as though i was going bald.
