Phylosophie Bath Reviews

S*$t place for any hair. I swear to God, this was so bad! I was in Bath and decided to go to this salon when it was initially opening and they had some good "talk" going around town so I thought, this was a great idea! Little did I know it would be such a mistake!

I walked in on time, faced with intimidating staff who simply looked me up and down and said "okay, take your seat". I waited patiently then was seen and seated at the chair. My hair is very dark, asian, healthy, short but very fine - but this salon prides itself with being able to help fine hair - which was one of the reasons I wanted to see it. My usual hairdresser was great but too far away.

I asked for a balayage/ombre. He frowned at me and said "No Im sorry that won't suit you" I showed him pictures. He refused again. I was annoyed but I thought, fine. I'm here. I have to go to work in 3 hours. Let me just get it trimmed or whatever.

He whacked on "indigo black hair dye". My hair is very very dark brown. It's like black already. But I hate confrontation, so I just went with it while he gossiped with me.

Washed it out. after REPEAT SHAMPOOING. My hair is coarse, curly. Who shampoos it with such strong shampoos repeatedly?

IT DIDN'T LOOK DIFFERENT. I didn't say anything just smiled as I was taken down for styling.

I wanted my natural curls now because I didn't trust the salon anymore with heat appliances in my hair. I refused it being straightened but allowed a blow dry - he dried and dried and dried. Again, massive mistake - you use a diffuser not a hair dryer and flat brush (roughly) on very curly hair. It was now a massive frizzy, damaged mess.

He cut it so short, it went from shoulder length to a full short, cropped hair no longer than a 2 - 3 inches. And it was uneven. I had asked for a TRIM of damaged ends ONLY without losing length.

Then he put mousse in my hair.

Then he HAIRSPRAYED THE ENTIRE LUMP ONTO MY SCALP.

I have fine hair. I repeat, fine hair.

He actually stuck my hair to my scalp and refused to let me touch it because it was "going to create frizz". My hair felt sticky and rock hard and stringy. It was painful to FROWN.

I wanted to cry when I saw my reflection. I told him this was horrendous. I had work in a few minutes and I couldn't go in like this. He said it was my hair, there wasn't anything to do.

I couldn't help but compare my before and after pictures that I took in the seat sneakily. My hair looked NOTHING like this before. It was healthy, full of volume and looked thick. Now my scalp was visible like I was fricking GOLLUM.

Then we argued over payment. Why must I pay £90 for this?! I argued for a while infront of another customer aswell who had been watching the entire scene and making faces at me because she felt so shocked at my hair. In the end he discounted me and I left. I couldn't take another step without wrapping my head tightly with a scarf (which stuck to my scalp and was painful to remove later because of this hairspray)

I cried on the way home and had to call sick into work. My mother was appalled with the result and it took me a long time to wash off the slimy mess from my hair that evening.

I WILL NEVER EVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS STUCK UP PLACE EVER. It is so filled with nonsense.

I want to give it negative ratings. It's been a couple of months already and Im still so upset by it. I went to another salon and they saw my pictures and my hairdresser almost cried. He discounted my service and fixed my hair. Few months along, I HAVE MY BALAYAGE which looks absolutely wonderful on me and I have been complimented so many times for it! I don't know why that man said no. I believe it might have been a racism issue because everyone seemed completely at loss of how to treat asian naturally textured curly hair in general. Everything they did was wrong from beginning to end and no matter how many chances I gave them inbetween and my own advice to prevent damage when he was supergluing my hair - it was ignored and brought me to tears. I was given no sympathy afterwards, no advice for color treated hair, no stylist advice - infact it all took place in silence, no contact information - just plain arrogance.

A refreshing change to the usual high street salon, more than I would usually pay, but overall good value .
